How often does Truth offer something simple?
A cheeky option, like a smile that comes with a dimple.
So attractive and entrancing, you pause to consider its option,
But it’s ease flares your suspicion, and you harden not soften.
How often does Truth offer something better?
And you take its offering so literally, you hold it to the letter.
You perceive in your actions Truth echoes all voices,
Then blame it for all of your wrong choices.
How often does Truth say: ‘Well here I am’.
Available, accessible to every child, woman and man.
It does so daily, but so very carefully,
So only those who wish to know, to seek, will discover it fully.
How often does Truth stand in the way,
Of a good story, of mankind’s advancement or better days?
Never does it glimpse at restrictions or demise,
These outcomes are the result of human enterprise.
How often does Truth show you something you don’t want to know,
And so, you shun it, and give your desires another go.
Despite having no agenda or ulterior motive,
You turn from it, your reaction purely emotive.
How often does Truth offer up its gift?
For as long as the earth and moon continue to shift.
It is an age old and enduring beacon of light,
Constant, regardless of if you respond with acquiescence or flight.
